Physical therapist–guided whole-body EMS training with miha bodytec

WHOLE-BODY EMS TRAINING

More Muscle Activation in Less Time

EMS stands for electrical muscle stimulation. During a session, electrodes positioned across the body deliver controlled impulses that work alongside simple, guided exercises to create a focused whole-body training experience.

Because multiple muscle groups can be activated during the same movement, EMS offers an efficient way to work on strength, muscle performance, and overall movement—without depending on heavy weights or complicated equipment.

HOW EMS TRAINING WORKS

A Guided Session From Start to Finish

Get Set Up

You will be fitted with specialized EMS garments that position electrodes around the major muscle groups of your upper body, arms, legs, and glutes.

Find Your Intensity

Your physical therapist adjusts the stimulation for different areas of your body. The sensation should feel strong and active while remaining comfortable and controlled.

Move With Guidance

You will perform simple, purposeful movements as the system activates your muscles. Your therapist guides your positioning, form, and intensity throughout the session.

Build on Your Progress

Your program can be adjusted over time based on how your body responds, keeping each session appropriate for your ability, tolerance, and goals.

PROFESSIONAL TECHNOLOGY

Why We Use miha bodytec

The miha bodytec II is an FDA-cleared, prescription-use powered muscle stimulator designed for professional environments. Its cleared uses include improving or facilitating muscle performance, re-educating muscles, relaxing muscle spasms, and helping retard or prevent disuse muscle atrophy.

The system is intended to be operated by a trained professional, making it a natural fit for our physical therapist–led approach. Instead of following a generic workout, your session is tailored to your movement, tolerance, and individual needs.

Designed for Professional Supervision

The supervising professional can control individual stimulation channels and stop the session at any time.

TRAINING BUILT AROUND YOUR GOALS

What Can EMS Help You Work Toward?

03

Efficient Whole-Body Training

Activate several major muscle groups during one focused 20-minute session.

04

Low-Impact Movement

06

Personalized Progression

Adjust intensity and movement selection based on your comfort, response, and goals.

Results vary. EMS may be used as one part of a broader physical therapy, movement, or exercise plan.

YOUR FIRST SESSION

One-on-One Care From the Beginning

Your first visit begins with a conversation about your health history, movement, previous injuries, concerns, and goals. Your physical therapist will explain how EMS works, complete an appropriate evaluation, and determine whether you are a good candidate.

Once cleared, you will be fitted with the EMS garments and introduced to the sensation gradually. Your therapist will adjust each area individually before guiding you through a series of simple movements.

You remain in communication with your therapist throughout the session, and the intensity can be changed at any time.

SAFETY FIRST

Screening Comes First

Whole-body EMS is designed to be performed with close professional supervision. It is not appropriate for everyone, which is why every new client must complete a health and safety screening before participating.

Pregnancy, electrical implants or pacemakers, certain cardiovascular or neurological conditions, acute illness or infection, recent surgery, open wounds, and some medications may prevent participation or require physician clearance. The FDA-cleared labeling for the miha bodytec II limits use to adults over age 21.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Whole-Body EMS FAQs

Does EMS training hurt?

No. You will feel a noticeable tingling sensation followed by controlled muscle contractions. The intensity is personalized and can be adjusted throughout your session. It should feel challenging while remaining tolerable.

Do I need to be physically fit?

No. Movements and stimulation levels can be adapted to your current ability. Your starting point is based on your evaluation—not on anyone else’s workout.

How long is a session?

The active EMS portion of each appointment lasts approximately 20 minutes. Allow additional time for changing, setup, and any necessary assessment or discussion.

How often should I attend?

Your recommended schedule depends on your goals, current condition, training experience, and recovery. Because EMS creates a significant training stimulus, appropriate recovery between sessions is important.

Can EMS replace physical therapy?

EMS is a tool that may be incorporated into a broader plan. It does not replace a thorough evaluation, skilled treatment, movement education, or other exercises your physical therapist recommends.

Can EMS replace my normal workouts?

EMS can complement an existing exercise routine or provide a structured starting point. Your therapist can help determine how it should fit alongside your other activities.

What should I wear?

We will provide instructions before your first session regarding the clothing or base layer required underneath the EMS equipment.

How quickly will I notice results?

Progress varies based on your starting point, goals, health, consistency, recovery, and other activity. We focus on measurable, sustainable improvement rather than promising a specific result or timeline.
