WHOLE-BODY EMS TRAINING
More Muscle Activation in Less Time
EMS stands for electrical myo(muscle) stimulation. During a session, electrodes positioned across the body deliver controlled impulses that work alongside simple, guided exercises to create a focused whole-body training experience.
Because multiple muscle groups can be activated during the same movement, EMS offers an efficient way to work on strength, muscle performance, and overall movement, without depending on heavy weights or complicated equipment.
HOW EMS TRAINING WORKS
A Guided Session From Start to Finish
Get Set Up
You will be fitted with specialized EMS garments that position electrodes around the major muscle groups of your upper body, arms, legs, and glutes.
Find Your Intensity
Your physical therapist adjusts the stimulation for different areas of your body. The sensation should feel strong and active while remaining comfortable and controlled.
Move With Guidance
You will perform simple, purposeful movements as the system activates your muscles. Your therapist guides your positioning, form, and intensity throughout the session.
Build on Your Progress
Your program can be adjusted over time based on how your body responds, keeping each session appropriate for your ability, tolerance, and goals.

PROFESSIONAL TECHNOLOGY
Why We Use miha bodytec
The miha bodytec II is an FDA-cleared, prescription-use powered muscle stimulator designed for professional environments. Its cleared uses include improving or facilitating muscle performance, re-educating muscles, relaxing muscle spasms, and helping retard or prevent disuse muscle atrophy.
The system is intended to be operated by a trained professional, making it a natural fit for our physical therapist–led approach. Instead of following a generic workout, your session is tailored to your movement, tolerance, and individual needs.
TRAINING BUILT AROUND YOUR GOALS
What Can EMS Help You Work Toward?
01
Strength and Muscle Performance
Create a focused strength-training stimulus without depending exclusively on traditional weights or machines.
02
Muscle Re-Education
Support the process of reconnecting movement and muscle activation when clinically appropriate.
03
Efficient Whole-Body Training
Activate several major muscle groups during one focused 20-minute session.
04
Low-Impact Movement
Adapt exercises to your current ability without jumping, running, or heavy external loads.
05
Improved Consistency
Short, structured appointments make regular strength training easier to fit into a demanding schedule.
06
Personalized Progression
Adjust intensity and movement selection based on your comfort, response, and goals.
Results vary. EMS may be used as one part of a broader physical therapy, movement, or exercise plan.
YOUR FIRST SESSION
One-on-One Care From the Beginning
Your first visit begins with a conversation about your health history, movement, previous injuries, concerns, and goals. Your physical therapist will explain how EMS works, complete an appropriate evaluation, and determine whether you are a good candidate.
Once cleared, you will be fitted with the EMS garments and introduced to the sensation gradually. Your therapist will adjust each area individually before guiding you through a series of simple movements.
You remain in communication with your therapist throughout the session, and the intensity can be changed at any time.
EMS Initial Consultation: $175 for 60 minutes
EMS session: $125 for 30 minutes
EMS+ session: $150 for 15 minutes of light manual therapy and 30 minutes of EMS
SAFETY FIRST
Screening Comes First
Whole-body EMS is designed to be performed with close professional supervision. It is not appropriate for everyone, which is why every new client must complete a health and safety screening before participating.
Pregnancy, electrical implants or pacemakers, certain cardiovascular or neurological conditions, acute illness or infection, recent surgery, open wounds, and some medications may prevent participation or require physician clearance. The FDA-cleared labeling for the miha bodytec II limits use to adults over age 21.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Whole-Body EMS FAQs
Does EMS training hurt?
EMS should not be painful. Most people describe the sensation as unusual at first, similar to a strong muscle contraction, but quickly adapt as they become familiar with the stimulation. Your physical therapist will adjust the intensity throughout your session to ensure you feel comfortable and are working at the appropriate level for your goals.
Do I need to be physically fit?
Not at all. EMS can be a great option for people at many different fitness levels. It can be especially helpful for individuals returning to exercise after time away, rebuilding strength after an injury, or looking for a lower-impact way to begin training.
For active individuals and athletes, EMS can also be a valuable addition to an existing training program by supporting strength, muscle activation, and performance goals.
How long is a session?
EMS sessions are scheduled for 30 minutes. The active training portion typically lasts around 20 minutes, as research has shown this amount of time can be highly effective when EMS is used appropriately.
Because EMS creates a muscle stimulus, your physical therapist will carefully guide the intensity and progression to ensure your body adapts safely.
How often should I attend?
Frequency depends on your goals, experience level, and overall treatment plan. Many people begin with 1–2 sessions per week, while others may use EMS as part of a maintenance program with sessions spaced further apart.
Your physical therapist will help determine the schedule that is most appropriate for you.
Can EMS replace physical therapy?
EMS and physical therapy serve different purposes, they are not replacements for one another.
EMS is a tool that can help support muscle activation, strength, and training. Physical therapy focuses on evaluating movement, addressing impairments, improving mobility, restoring function, and creating a comprehensive plan around your goals.
When combined, EMS and physical therapy can work together to support recovery and performance.
Can EMS replace my normal workouts?
It can, depending on your goals and how you choose to incorporate it into your routine. Some individuals use EMS as their primary strength training method, while others use it as a supplement to their existing workouts.
If you're new to EMS, your physical therapist will guide you on how to safely combine EMS with other exercise, including recommendations around higher-intensity workouts before and after your session.
What should I wear?
You'll wear a lightweight base layer underneath the EMS suit. We provide guidance on what works best, and dressing rooms are available so you can arrive comfortably and change when needed.
Just bring yourself, we'll walk you through the rest.
How quickly will I notice results?
Results vary depending on your goals, consistency, and starting point. Many people begin noticing improvements within 4–6 weeks, although your body may need an initial adaptation period as you become familiar with the stimulation and training demands.
Consistent sessions, proper progression, and a personalized approach are key to achieving the best results.
